Gender aspects in formation of policeman’s image in Ukraine

Abstract
The author has considered gender equality in general and in the formation of state authorities and, in particular, the personnel of the National Police of Ukraine. She has highlighted that stereotypes must be overcome. Significant role in this is played by the introduction of gender quotas in the work of state bodies and, consequently, an increase in the number of women among National Police officers. Implementation of the gender perspective in the activities of the National Police will contribute to the improvement of the legal and regulatory framework for ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in all spheres of society's life; reduction of gender imbalance among the quantitative composition of the police; development and introduction into the programs of advanced training courses on the issues of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; improvement of the mechanism for implementing the right to protection against discrimination on grounds of sex. The results of the implementation of the gender approach in the work of the National Police of Ukraine have been analyzed. It has been explored how the increase in the number of women in the police has influenced the public's perception of it. The ways of forming a positive image of the police officer have been outlined.
