Gender-marked phraseological units in the English linguoculture

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of cognitive-semantic features of phraseological units with a gender component in modern English. Gender-marked phraseological units are divided into several groups, which are family-driven, socially constructed, and professionally-related as well as those having their own names, moral and ethical characteristics. All of them are constituted on the basis of two oppositions, namely, “masculinity vs femininity” and “positivity vs negativity”.
