GENERAL COLOR RENDERING INDEX AS A CRITERION OF QUALITY OF LIGHT SOURCES ASSESSMENT APPLIED IN EUROPEAN COMMISSION REGULATIONS IMPLEMENTING DIRECTIVE 2009/125/EC (EKODESIGN)
Journal Title: Proceedings of Electrotechnical Institute Prace Instytutu Elektrotechniki - Year 2014, Vol 61, Issue 267
Abstract
The paper describes requirements established in the Regulations of the European Commission on the implementation of Directive 2009/125/EC in regard to the colour rendering property and the method of verifying of this property. Consequences arising from adopted tolerances of the minimum value of the general colour rendering index, specified in the Regulations of the European Commission, have been presented. Also, the problem of obtaining different values of the general colour rendering index, depending on the measurement resolution of the test light and also on the resolution of the computational algorithms used in programs to the general color rendering index calculations has been analyzed. Also in this paper the potential risks arising from the possibility of obtaining different results of such calculations was written. Authors proposed the use of supplementary marking, placed behind the value of general colour rendering index, indicating resolution of measurement and resolution of the method used for calculation of this value.
