GERMAN OCCLUSIVE CONSONANTS B, D, G – P, T, K. AT THE MODERN GERMAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The present article deals with german occlusive consonants b, d, g – p, t, k. The author eamines the old periods of german language and the modern language as well. This paper reports on research into specics of development of mentioned above occlusive consonants in the beginning (Anlaut) and in the end (Auslaut) of a german word, using a corpus of old (Old High german period and Middle High german period) and modern (New High german) texts. Particular attention is paid to the structures of a german word, and the evolution of strustures is regarded. The analysis of the data clealy indicates that for the beginning (Anlaut) of a german word the articulate intensication is typical, as opposed to the end of german word, where the end (Auslaut) of a german word has a weak articulation. this article provides eamples of words, which prove the present research. The material in this article can be of interest to postgraduate students and lecturers, who have to do with german phonetics and german philology as well.
