Governmentality and what next?: The neoliberal, global face of governmentality – The English speaking space of social exclusion/inclusion

Abstract
This paper is of a theoretical nature and is based on secondary data analysis that refers to expansion of the English language as a governmentality strategy of neo-liberal political elites. It is argued that for middle-class and working-class people, the English language has become a necessary prerequisite of social inclusion in the world of globalized economy and globalized science. Piketty’s Capital (2013) outlined the problem of the center and the periphery of the US-centric global economy. The discussion is embedded in critical theory, with particular emphasis on the works of Michel Foucault. Foucault questions the reasons we use as rational beings and asks about the risks of our rationality, in this case related to studying English as a foreign language.<br/><br/>
