Growth rate of the chub (Squalius cephalus) and the nase (Chondrostoma nasus) from Raba, Dunajec, and Poprad River

Abstract

In presented study growth rate of the chub Squalius cephalus and nase Chondrostoma nasus from Raba, Dunajec, and Poprad River were investigated using a back-scaling method. A total number of 167 chubs and 186 nases were analysed. Age of these fishes varied from 2 to 12 years. Growth rate of fish analysed was high and similar to other results from upper Vistula River drainage. We consider that artificial fry gained from these rivers may contribute declining populations of these two species in other rivers of upper Vistula drainage.
