Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
For a long time, the analysis of cohesion in texts has been a key topic in the study of discourse. “Cohesion refers to the relations of meaning that exists within a text. It is part of the system of language which has the potentials for meaning enhancement in texts” (Olateju, 2006, p.317). This study includes a qualitative investigation of discourse markers between two different texts of Persian and English sentences. Based on the data and examples analysis, the investigator of this study found that cohesion markers in English are used more clear and widespread than Persian.
