Abstract
हिंदी साहित्य का आरंभ आठवीं शताब्दी से माना जाता है। यह वह समय है जब सम्राट् हर्ष की मृत्यु के बाद देश में अनेक छोटे - छोटे शासन स्थापित केंद्र हो गए थे जो परस्पर संघर्षरत रहा करते थे। विदेशी मुसलमानों से भी इनकी टक्कर होती रहती थी। हिंदी साहित्य की जड़ें प्राचीन भारत की संस्कृत भाषा में तलाशी जा सकती हैं ।
