Heat treatment of Stainless steel 316L- Titanium Bimetal Manufactured By Explosive Welding

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 7, Issue 10

Abstract

Explosive welding is an acceptable method for dissimilar metals conjunctions, which has many applications at different welding industry. Pieces produced with explosive welding method can be utilized in a wide range of industry, these pieces mainly are produced of different metal using explosive welding. One of the important parameter of these bimetals is the Strength of the joining region of bimetals. There are different ways to increase the strength of the joining region such as heat treatment. Low strength at the joining region will make the pieces less practical and so by using heat treatment method we are going to investigate the strength of joining region. In this paper explosive joining of Titanium -Stainless steel which has special characteristics such as high resistivity against corrosion and super mechanical properties, was investigated. This junction has applications such as producing oil container and petrochemical and even nuclear applications. In this work annealing temperatures of 700, 750, 800,850, 900, 950 ?C for 1 hour were applied on explosive joining of Titanium -Stainless steel 316L, then the samples got cold at oven. Junction was investigated using an optical microscope, hardness test was down on the samples.
