HERBAL DRUGS IN TREATMENT OF ANXIETY DISORDER

Abstract

The world's 60% population are going to use traditional medicines which are obtained from the medicinal plants. The purpose of this review is to emphasis on those herbal drugs which may be used in the remedy of anxiety disorders. These comprising generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) are the most frequent behavioural disorders in the United States, affecting 17.2% of the population. Today people are using more and more Herbal supplements to treat anxiety problem and the mechanism of action of various Herbal drugs are being enlightened. Compare to pharmaceutical drugs herbs are safer, digestible, effective, economical and having less undesirable side effects. Herbs are the most effective alternative to the pharmaceutical drugs in various health conditions. The herbs promote and improve the overall health when combined with a raw vegan diet and regular exercise. The leaves, roots, stems of different plants are the source of vitamin C, Minerals, Amino Acids that can be helpful in case of CNS disorders. There are number of medicinal plants which are proved for their anti-anxiety affects are enlisted as Abies pindrow, Acatia spicata, Albizzia lebbeck, Brassica oleracea, Cecorpia glazioui, Citrus paradisi, Colocassia esculenta, Drypetes roxburghis, Hebenaria intermedia, Mellissa paraflora, Moringa oleifera, Panax ginseng, etc.
