HERMENEUTICS AS THE EPISTEMOLOGY OF INTERPRETATION IN PAUL RICOEUR’S PHILOSOPHY

Abstract
The representations about the content of historical development and the methodology of historical knowledge are changing significantly in the modern humanities. The formation of the new historical paradigms provides for deepen-ing the dialogue between philosophical epistemology and historiography, in particular, mastering the achievements of the phenomenological and hermeneutic philosophical traditions. The purpose of the article is to consider the key as-pects of the problems of the epistemology of historical narrative in the philosophy of Paul Ricoeur. The consideration of philosophical and methodological ideas, constituting the essence of the epistemological concept of Paul Ricoeur, relies on critical-analytical method. The main theses of the epistemology of interpretation of Paul Ricoeur are de-fined, the peculiarity of his disciplinary analysis is exposed, the directionality of critical analytics is shown. It is shown, that in Ricoeur’s philosophy the narrative acts as an open and capable of changes interpretative framework that allows historians to approach the real boundaries by setting the order and giving meaning to the experience of human existence. It is defined that Riker views understanding as mediated by the expectations, given by historical and cultural traditions. The results can be used in the educational process in the courses «Philosophy», «Philosophical problems of scientific knowledge», «Philosophy of science», as well as for further research of problems of philoso-phy and methodology of scientific knowledge.
