High alert medications in adult person

Abstract
Introduction: High-risk medication in adults refers to those medications that can cause serious adverse effects or even endanger the patient's life; These medications require special attention in their prescription, administration and monitoring to minimize risks-ensure patient safety.Objective: Determine guidelines that enable adequate high-risk medication in adults in Ecuador. Materials and methods: qualitative, descriptive, bibliographic and infographic review of the last five years.Results: the majority are women, 76.8%, with the average age being 64.3 years. The most used high-risk medications were anesthetics, opiates, antiarrhythmics, adrenergic agonists, and thrombolytics. In addition, the consecutive errors were the dose, concentration, volumes and presentation. Conclusions: The risk increases from age over 60 and being a woman doubles the danger, together with the drug-age interaction and recurrent polypharmacology during the period of life, since the risk triangle on drugs is worrying. for a higher incidence of damage. Therefore, it is important to design protocols and manage high-risk drugs based on the most frequent errors
