Higher economics education in Poland in the face of a crisis

Abstract
The crisis has caused, among other things, a rally in the discussion regarding economic sciences as well as regarding the education of economists and managers. These discussions are dominated by a very critical tone. The aim of this article is to provide an answer to questions regarding the direction of change in Polish higher education in the field of economics, based on an analysis of its development, especially during the period of the beginning of the transition in Poland. The main changes regarding programs that are postulated by the author include a wider inclusion of the historic context of economic phenomena and economics itself, refreshing the idea of economics as a social science as well as taking a realistic approach to the use of mathematics in economics. The last part of the paper concerns the changes in law regarding higher education in Poland.
