Abstract
Background:In this paper, We study,“Histopathologicalstudy of Extra pulmonary tuberculosis”. In different age, sex and various organ distribution. Material and Method:Biopsy samples received in 10% neutral buffered formalin. After fixation and tissue processing, sections were embedded in the liquid paraffin and later stained by H & E then mounted and examined under microscope. Aims:The present study was done to analyze the incidence of extra-pulmonary TB in different age groups, sex and various organs involved. Results:Out of the total 25,254 cases, 300 cases were diagnosed as extra pulmonary TB on histopathological examination. Thus, the overall incidence of EPTB was 1.187%. The male to female ratio was 1: 1.14., Maximum number of cases found was in the age group of 21-30 years, being 30.66% of the total EPTB cases (92/300) ,Lymph node 40% was the most common site of EPTB (120/300) followed by GIT, OAS, FGT, Skin , breast, soft tissue, ENT, MGT and kidney. Conclusion: Histopathological examination of biopsy is confirmative diagnosis of extra pulmonary tuberculosis, The clinical manifestations of EPTB are variable, thus diagnosis is often delayed resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. Rapid and accurate diagnosis of extra pulmonary TB is critical for proper initiation of treatment and to control the disease.
