History of Education Research: Data bases, archives and the source utilization

Abstract

The article presents methodological procedures utilized in surveys made in the area of History of education, comprehending two fields of knowledge, History and Pedagogy, intending to demonstrate possibilities of work with data bases, archives and sources. In this perspective, it has as a goal the approach of documental research aspects, checking their contributions to the historical survey, through significant categories for qualitative studies, that means, Literature, Periodical Press, Iconography and Egodocuments, taken as sources. Moreover, the female education is discussed, in dimensions that make its investigation easier, considering that, usually, these records are found held, especially when it is about catholic, secular institutions, which exist since ages not witnessed anymore. It may be concluded by the legitimacy of a varied repertoire of data bases and archives as research sources in the field of the History of education, since we utilize them with discipline and method, allowing the unraveling of contexts and circumstances in which the teaching was institutionalized.
