Abstract

He Qin policy, defined as peace-marriage between Huns and China, was applied for the first time by Han Dynasty when China was economically, socially and politically instable. After that, all the He Qin treaties were demanded by the Huns. According to the treaty, the emperor of China sent a wife, gifts together, in return the Hun leader insured to protect the northern borders of China. One of these marriages was the marriage of Wang Zhao Jun with the Hun leader Hu Han Ye. This marriage was of significance because it indicated a peace period of 50 years in Hun-China relations. Wang Zhao Jun is considered to be one of the Four Beautiful Women in Antique China and her departure of Han palace is described in Chinese literature works and in legends. In this study, the contrubution of this marriage, which has a crucial importance in Turkish and Chinese history, to Hun-China relations is attempted to be examined.
