A Sunnı Sheikh in Alamut: III. Hasan Nev Muselman

Abstract

Batiniyya which arised due to political and creed disputes in the Islamic World, was engaged in an activities that demolishing established order; terrorized society by assassinating plenty of valuable statesman and cleric long years. Batiniyya accepted licit for all ways to destroy existing political and religious order and to sell on their opinions. Even Jews and Christians could not damage Muslims as they did. However, Celaleddin III. Hasan who became Alamut Sheikh in 670/1210, refused Shiite-Ismaili belief which is creed of sheiks before him and declared that he adopted Sunni Islam belief. He was nicknamed as “nev müselman-new muslim” by Abbasid caliph Al-Nasir li-Din Allah. The subject of this article is Celaleddin III. Hasan The New Muslim’s life and activities in period of his Alamut Seikh.
