HYDROGEOLOGICAL ZONING IN THE JELENIA GÓRA REGION (THE WESTERN SUDETES)

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2010, Vol 440, Issue 440

Abstract

The paper presents the vertical hydrogeological zoning in the Karkonosze granite in the Jelenia Góra Basin. Significant fissuring of hard rocks determines their variable water-bearing capacity. Many water-bearing zones with different discharge rates (sometimes above 100 m[sup]3[/sup]/h), chemical composition and temperature of water reaching 97.7°C were identified to the depth of 2 km. In the central part of the Jelenia Góra Basin the boundary between fresh and thermal waters occurs at the depth of 300 m.
