,,Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny” wobec konfliktu węgiersko-rumuńskiego w latach 1918–1921

Abstract
The articles about the conflict between Hungary and Romania, which were published in IDC from November 1918 to March 1921, should be divided into two groups: the first one, encompassing texts published from November 1918 to the fall of the Hungarian Republic of Councils at the beginning of August 1919, and the second one, encompassing texts published from August 1919 to the end of the discussed period (March 1921). The first group of articles usually presents a negative attitude towards Hungary as a result of its part in the First World War as one of the Central Powers, as well as of the fact that it had embraced Communism as its system. Romania, on the contrary, enjoyed the approval of IDC at that time, i.a. as the result of its engagement against the Hungarian Republic of Councils. During the border conflict between these two countries, the daily used to support Hungary. In the second period the situation changed in some way. IDC started to depict Hungary as Poland’s potential ally, which however did not affect the positive image of Romania. This is because the pro-Hungarian attitude did not denote press attacks on Bucharest in articles concerning the conflict between Hungary and Romania, as during that time the former pro-Romanian and anti-Hungarian sentiments were replaced by a friendly attitude towards both countries, which preached their mutual understanding.
