Journal Title: Fizjoterapia Polska - Year 2010, Vol 10, Issue 3

Abstract

Background. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of physiotherapy on selected functional parameters and the process of maintaining body balance in patients after hip joint replacement surgery.Material and methods. The study involved 30 patients, aged 60-75 years, following cementless hip replacement surgery. The treatment regimen comprised kinesiotherapy and physical therapy procedures. Results. The comprehensive programme of physiotherapy improved the range of motion of the hip joints and the process of maintaining body balance in a standing position in the study group.Conclusions. By improving the functional status of joints and the process of maintaining balance, the treatment method used in this study enabled the patients after hip replacement surgery to improve their quality of life.
