Improved Fault-tolerant Architecture for HDFS using Distributed Namespace
Journal Title: International Journal of Innovative Research in Computer Science and Technology - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
In HDFS, the Namenode handles all the metadata about the files. Client contacts the Namenode for accessing any file to get its mapping to the blocks on Datanodes. Namenode has to store this data in its RAM to allow faster access to clients on their requests. Hence HDFS Datanodes’ metadata is restricted by the capacity of the RAM. This makes the Namenode as the single point of failure in HDFS. In our approach we present multiple Namenodes with distributed namespace using Chord protocol. Multiple Namenodes will be arranged in Chord ring to provide scalable and fault tolerant architecture in HDFS.

Big Data: The New Challenges in Data Mining
Big Data is a new term used to identify the datasets but due to their large size and complexity, we cannot manage them with our current methodologies or data mining software tools. With the fast development of networking...
Validation and Profile Modification of a Spur Gear to Improve the Gear Tooth Strengths
The idea of using asymmetric tooth forms has gained momentum in gearing design. Similar to symmetric basic rack gears, tooth action parameters are established in the first stage. The second stage involves calculating the...
A Review on Causes and Effects of Global Warming
There are many engineer, scientist, and ecologist are expressing grave worries about the global climate change. Fossil fuels are used as a source of energy indefinitely. When carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen oxides...
Factor to Facilitate Learning in Knowledge Sharing
Knowledgesharing is fundamentally about making the right knowledge or the right knowledge sources (including people) available to the right people at the right time. Knowledge sharing is therefore perhaps the single most...
Single Image Super Resolution with Wavelet Domain Transformation and Sparse Representation
In this paper, we have proposed a new image resolution enhancement algorithm based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT), lifting wavelet transform (LWT) and sparse recovery of the input image. A single low resolution (LR)...
