Journal Title: International Jornal of Social Work Research - Year 2021, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Throughout time, humanity has continued and manifested itself with different structures. People gathered in families, were born, grew up and changed. People have transferred the change from generation to generation and this change has also affected family structures. Although the family in Turkish society is generally based on a traditional and religious institution, it is also considered as a part of economic, cultural, political and demographic changes. In line with the studies on the family in Turkey, it is seen that there has been a rapid change in the family structure since the 1960s. When we look at the studies on the family in Turkey, we first come across the Turkey Family Structure Studies. The data source of the Turkey Family Structure Advanced Statistical Analysis conducted by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, General Directorate of Family and Social Services, is the Turkish Family Structure Research 2006, 2011 and 2016 data. The aim of this research is to reveal the changes in family structure and culture in Turkey in the next 10 years, based on statistical data. However, within the framework of current theoretical approaches explaining family change, single-person family rates, gender variable in single-person families, rates of single- parent families, and childless families were evaluated. The data source of the research is also based on the mentioned statistical analysis. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that with the developments in the social structure, the dependence of women on men has been shaken, and in this context, the increase in both the divorce rates and the desire of women and men to live alone. In the next 10 years, it is expected that the rate of single-person family, single-parent family rate and childless family rate will continue to increase continuously.
