Abstract
It is with regret that I communicate the death of my friend and our colleague Dr. Lavinel George Ionescu (18.05.1943 ☆ - 12.06.2017✞ ). I worked with Professor Lavinel for over 15 years and would work much more if that were possible. His role in shaping some of the best cadres of national science is notorious.
