INCIDENTAL FINDING OF BRUNNER GLAND HYPERPLASIA IN A CASE OF GASTRIC ADENOCARCINOMA

Journal Title: Journal of Evolution of Medical and Dental Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 9

Abstract

This case of ours is a 70year old male patient who presented with gastric outlet obstruction. Endoscopy revealed nodular ulcerated mass lesion involving 3/4th of the circumference noted in the distal body of stomach along the incisura not involving pylorus and was subsequently diagnosed as gastric adenocarcinoma on endoscopic biopsy and for which distal gastrectomy was done. Histopathological sections showed well to moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of stomach and sections from proximal duodenum showed lobules of brunner glands indicating a rare diagnostic finding of brunner gland hyperplasia.
