Incidental Tc-99m Methylene Diphosphonate Uptake in an Active Thyroid Nodule
Journal Title: Molecular Imaging and Radionuclide Therapy - Year 2017, Vol 26, Issue 3
Abstract
Tc-99m-methylene diphosphonate (MDP) whole body scintigraphy is the method of choice for detection of metastatic bone diseases. It is primarily used to help diagnose various bone-related conditions such as primary or metastatic cancer of the bone, location of bone inflammation, and fractures that may not be visible on traditional X-ray images, as well as detection of bone damage due to infections and other conditions. In addition, bone scanning is often used for the follow-up or evaluation of response to treatment in some malignancies like prostate and breast cancers. Pathologies of other systems can also be incidentally detected on whole body bone scan. Herein we present an interesting image of an active thyroid nodule that showed Tc-99m MDP uptake in a prostate cancer patient. Keywords: Thyroid nodule, Tc-99m medronate, radionuclide imaging

Tc-99m MDP Bone SPECT/CT Findings of a Patient Detected with a New Mutation in LEMD3 Gene: A Case of Osteopoikilosis
Osteopoikilosis is an inherited condition with autosomal dominant trait resulting in sclerotic foci throughout the skeleton. It has been suggested that loss-of-function mutations of LEMD3 gene located on 12q14.3 result i...

Evaluation of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging SPECT Parameters and Pharmacologic Stress Test with Adenosine Versus Coronary Angiography Findings: Are They Diagnostically Concordant?
Objectives: In this study our first aim was to evaluate the diagnostic concordance of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) by pharmacological stress test with adenosine (APST) with coronary angiography (CAG). The seco...
False-positive I-131 Uptakes at Pulmonary Wedge-resection Site and Soft Tissue Lateral to the Femoral Heads in a Patient with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
A hyper-metabolic pulmonary nodule was detected on 18F-FDG PET/CT in a 65-year-old woman who had been followed up for 12 years without any complaints following treatment for papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Wedge resectio...
The Role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Detecting Ovarian Cancer Recurrence in Patients with Elevated CA-125 Levels
Objectives: To investigate the role of 18F-FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in detection of recurrence in ovarian cancer patients with increased CA-125 levels. Methods: Fifty-two patients (30...
