INCREASING THE ACCURACY OF COMPOSITES MECHANICAL PROPERTIES DETERMINATION BASED ON CARBON FIBERS USING RATIONAL PROCESSING METHODS

Abstract

Purpose. To prove increasing the accuracy of the carbon-carbon composites mechanical properties determination using rational methods of samples processing. Methodology. The comparative analysis method has been used to find out cut quality and cutting tool edge condition; destruction of materials. Results. For experimental studies serial and special laboratory equipment of mechanical and abrasive waterjet processing has been used. It has been shown the fea-tures of processing samples by micromilling on Proxxon MF70; sawing by multitool back-and-forth motion (Bosch PMF 250 CES); drilling used spiral and diamond-containing tubular drills; abrasive waterjet cutting on LSK-400-5. Originality. For the first time the strain-stress state of the cutting zone in composite materials based on carbon fibers at different processing methods has been determined. Practical value. The following processing has been recommended for obtaining representative samples of the carbon-carbon composites for mechanical testing: abrasive cutting by the diamond tool, preparation conditions for introduction of the waterjet stream (drilling) and further abrasive waterjet processing.
