Individualization of occlusal surface reconstruction: A case study
Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2011, Vol 61, Issue 4
Abstract
To perform the prosthetic reconstruction of occlusion it is necessary to consider individual elements of the stomatognathic system, namely the reference position, occlusion height, occlusion plane, the angle of inclination of palatal surface of upper incisors and canines, as well as the height and angle of inclination of posterior teeth cusps. The masticatory system was diagnosed, using a Cadiax Compact device. The measurable parameters of mandibular movements were analysed, taking into account occlusion determinants. The plaster models of the mandible and maxilla were investigated in the articulator with individual settings. The use of available modern equipment and the performance of a complete and accurate computer diagnosis, make it possible to reconstruct the occlusion, which enables the prosthetic restoration to be individually incorporated into the patient’s stomatognathic system.
