INFERTILITY AND IT'S DIETARY MANAGEMENT

Abstract
Definition of infertility is a failure to achieve conception by a couple of mature age having normal coitus, during appropriate period of menstrual cycle, regularly, at least for one year. According to WHO, one in every four couples in developing countries affected by infertility. Causes are mainly tubal block, anovulatory cycles, pcod, oligospermia in males etc. In 10-20% of cases no cause is found. According to charak aacharya, cause of infertility is disturbances of aahar vihar in daily life. abnormal diet causes vitiation of dasas, influence fertilization, diseses of vata chronic illness and udavarta etc. Abnormal mode of life, vitiating dosas, preventing proper entry of sperms. The diet mentioned in ayurveda contains antioxidants which help to protect ovum and sperm from free radicals. Thus proper aahar, viharadi yojna prevent infertility. This highlights the role of diet and life style habits in prevention of infertility (male and female infertility).
