INFLUENCE OF A POLYVINYL ALKOHOL AND DEXTRANE ON THE PROPERTIES OF HYDROPHILIC GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEX WITH CHITOSAN
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2009, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
The investigated preparations on methylcellulose base revealed good adhesion to the vaginal mucosa and were present on it throughout the daily activities of the patient. This property enabled the continuity of 24-hour action of the drug. Gels containing lactic acid complex with chitosan at 1 : 1 stoichiometric ratio is equivalent to regular physiological conditions of a vagina. pH of gel at 2 : 1 stoichiometric composition ratio of lactic acid to chitosan remains below a physiological reaction and can be used in benign inflammatory condition. The value of pH of a gel is greatly influenced by the content of lactic acid in relation to chitosan and the type and concentration of a auxiliary substance.
