INFLUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION OF FRICTION UNITS ON ELECTRIC THERMAL MECHANICAL FRICTION

Abstract

The role of the design features of the friction unit (tribosystems) on electric thermal mechanical friction and wear is so great that the constructive parameters of friction unit (friction area, the mutual re-coating, shape and size of frictional engagement elements and it suppleness, energy levels of surface and subsurface layers of contacting elements, generated electric currents and accumulated thermal currents and others) stand out among the main factors, along with the friction mode parameters and properties of the frictional materials. We’ve illustrated next questions: effect of static and dynamic friction coefficient of mutual overlap of friction pairs; the impact of area of actual contact of friction pairs on their energy-loading; influence of thermal regime; influence of environment and gas mixtures on electric thermal mechanical friction. The materials of the article show the influence of the structural elements of the friction unit of different types of braking devices for major determinants electric thermal mechanical friction in friction units.
