INFLUENCE OF PARENTALBRINGING UP STRATEGIES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF GENDER IDENTITY OF ADOLESCENTS

Abstract
The article covers the results of theoretical and experimental study of the influence of the dominant strate- gies of parental bringing up on the development of gender characteristics of girls and boys in their teens. The differences in the maternal and paternal approaches to the process of bringing up of children of different sexes, and the relationship between the indicators of dominant strategies of upbringing and the peculiarities of gen- der self-determination of adolescents have been analyzed. Our hypothesis about the conditionality of gender self-determination girls and boys in their teens by parents' upbringing tactics has been confirmed. Among the strategies of upbringing on the part of mother, girls singled out positive interest and on the part of father – his inconsistency; boys evaluated the upbringing process through the directive practices of both – mother and father. The results also showed that the influence of parental bringing up strategies was more pronounced with boys than with girls.
