Influence of Structure Variation and Finishing on Woven Fabric Thermal Properties
Journal Title: Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe - Year 2018, Vol 26, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper investigates the influence of fabric structure variations and finishing on the thermal properties of woven fabrics for a tailored garment. Four distinctive pairs of fabrics were investigated, where the weft density, weft yarn count or type and finishing were varied within the fabrics in each pair. Several thermal properties such as conductivity, diffusivity, absorptivity, resistance, the ratio of maximal and stationary heat flow density and the stationary heat flow density were measured using an Alambeta device. The results obtained showed that variation of the weft yarn count and finishing have a significant effect on several thermal properties. Increasing the weft count increased the thermal conductivity, absorptivity, resistance and the ratio of maximal and stationary heat flow density. The application of oilproof and waterproof finishing affected thermal diffusivity, thermal absorptivity and thermal resistance. Milled finishing contributed to increasing the thermal resistance.

Possibilities for the Estimation of Electrospun Nanofibre Diameter Distribution by Normal (Gaussian) Distribution
Fiber diameter and its distribution are one of the most important parameters related with the quality of electrospun web. The diameter of electrospun nanofibres is not uniform and the histograms of values are usually dis...
Comparative Study on the Frictional Sound Properties of Woven Fabrics
An innovative Frictional Sound Automatic Measuring System (FSAMS) was designed to collect and enable analysis of the frictional sound spectra of four natural fibre woven fabrics which included cotton, linen, silk, and wo...
Determination of a Comfort Class for Protective Clothing Based on Ergonomic Tests
In addition to compliance with requirements concerning specific protective properties, protective clothing should also provide a sense of comfort to the user. No clearly identified evaluation criteria for the ergonomic...
Preparation of Self-cleaning Polyester Fabrics by Chemical Vapor Deposition of Methyltrichlorosilane/Dimethyldichlorosilane
Self-cleaning polyester fabrics were prepared by a simple gas phase deposition procedure in which a layer of polydimethylsiloxane nanofilaments was grown onto textile fibers. Superhydrophobic and self-cleaning properties...
Geometrical Analysis of 3D Integrated Woven Fabric Reinforced Core Sandwich Composites
The variability of the internal geometry parameters, such as the waviness of yarns, cross sections of yarns and local fibre volume fraction of 3-dimensional (3D) integrated woven core sandwich composites affects their me...
