INFLUENCE OF THE CORRECTION OF CYLINDRICAL GEARINGS WITH INVOLUTE TEETH ON WEAR AND DURABILITY

Abstract

Based on author’s method of evaluation of wear and durability of cylindrical gearings with involute teeth, taking into account engagement conditions, the influence of technological correction on contact strength, wear, and durability has been investigated. It has been established that, generally, the highest contact pressures appear at the entrance into single-tooth engagement. At the engagement correction, maximal contact pressures decrease by a maximum 14%. The permissible wear of gear teeth h2* is reached in different contact points: In spur gears, it is reached at the absence of correction in the point of teeth entrance into single-tooth engagement, and, in case of their correlation, it is reached at the exit of single-tooth engagement; in the gear with helical non-correlated teeth, the h2* value would be reached in the point of teeth entrance into double-tooth engagement, and, in case of correlated engagement, it is reached at the entrance into double-tooth engagement or at the exit of single-tooth engagement, depending on the values of correction coefficients x1 = –x2. Gear durability at the optimal coefficients of x1 = –x2, determined in the process of investigation, increase up to 1.66 times. Results of the investigation are presented graphically.
