INFRARED STUDIES OF TRIBOLOGICAL PHENOMENA IN SLIDING BEARINGS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 244, Issue 4

Abstract

The paper presents the possibilities of the application of thermovision methods in studies of sliding bearings operating in friction conditions. Thermal phenomena can be observed in images produced by thermovision during bearing operation. The presented characteristics show the geometrical distribution of temperature in the bearing and the process of its heating during operation. The analysis of observed phenomena made it possible to work out a thermal model that allowed the author to determine the friction coefficient in the sliding bearing.
