Abstract
L'article analyse les principales orientations de la politique étrangère des États européens en rétrospective historique: depuis le début de la période moderne à la pratique diplomatique moderne du XXIe siècle. Une attention particulière est accordée à la théorie et la pratique de la diplomatie, au développement institutionnel, aux réalisations, problèmes et perspectives du service diplomatique de l'Europe et décrit les fonctionnalités des outils diplomatiques et les modèles de la diplomatie. On analyse les exigences professionnelles aux diplomates et fonctionnaires impliqués dans la politique étrangère, dans le cadre de la période historique de leurs activités et de la continuité de la pratique diplomatique.
