Integracja sensoryczna w wodzie

Journal Title: Rehabilitacja w Praktyce - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 3

Abstract

In the sensory integration (SI) process, sensory impressions are recognized, located and segregated by the human brain. Then the brain creates an appropriate adaptive, mental or motor response. According to the research, 6-10% of the paediatric population is affected by the sensory integration disorder, which can be considered as a social problem. It is recommended to use aquatic SI therapy as a supplement to classic sensory integration therapy. Due to the specific characteristics of the aquatic environment, the best effects of this therapy can be obtained by focusing on three areas: stimulation of the vestibular system, building body awareness and proprioception, as well as stimulation of the sense of touch. Appropriate aquatic therapy can help patients work on their own body and movement planning. This can significantly improve their daily living activities.
