INTEGRATED APPROACH IN THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ COMPETENCE DURING THE INTRODUCTORY COURSE

Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of formation of students’ competence during the introductory course using the integrated approach. The basic phonetic skills and habits that a student should acquire, and the meth- odological principles which provide the integration of exercises in the foreign language teaching have been determined. The article outlines possible difficulties in the formation of phonological competence. In order to increase the quality and the level of phonological competence acquired, the model for working up the phonetic material has been suggested.
