Interdependency and the exploitation of synergistic growth opportunity through the appropriate deployment of a management information system

Abstract

Interdependencies between business units are strengthened as synergies are recognized and exploited within a multinational enterprise (MNE). Strategically, a system that is appropriately designed, implemented and updated at a suitable cadence is critical for the realization of growth. Global systems, when appropriately deployed and utilized enhances organizational performance and efficacy in the eyes of their clients. In this paper, the author uncovers through a phenomenological case study how a system was influential in helping interdependent business units realize synergistic growth. Economies of scale can exploit synergistic attributes found in MNEs to reduce costs. This is accomplished when a system is appropriately designed, transparent and available. The author presents findings from this case and ultimately extracts eleven propositions to guide overall system efficacy. Absent these considerations, risk of revenue loss is enhanced significantly.
