INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC METHODS OF EVALUATION OF THE LEVEL OF ECONOMIC SECURITY OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The article deals with the main international and domestic methods of assessing the level of economic security in Ukraine. Approaches to the definition of the concept of economic security by foreign and domestic scientists are considered. The most important indicators of internal economic security of the state are determined. The dynamics of GDP of Ukraine for 2013–2016 in actual prices are analyzed. The structure of the gross domestic product of Ukraine in the 3rd quarter of 2016 and the dynamics of nominal and real wages in Ukraine for 2015–2016 are determined. The boundary values of safety indicators in the ecological sphere of Ukraine are analyzed with the help of consideration of the position of the country in the international rating of environmental achievements. The index of global competitiveness of Ukraine in dynamics for 2014–2017 years has been researched. The weak and strong positions of the country for sub-indexes are established and prospective directions of strengthening of the economic security of the state are formed. The structure and dynamics of Ukraine’s GDP for 2016 show very well the changes taking place in the economy of our country. The agrarian business is gaining more and more in the first place, even pushing for some degree the industry as a less promising direction for the development of the Ukrainian economy. And now the agrarian business can be called the main driver of the Ukrainian economy. The growth of grain and sunflower oil exports saved Ukraine’s exports from a significant decline last year, and this year even showed good growth rates of the economy as a whole. It should be noted that Ukraine has not set up a system of indicators that would allow a comprehensive assessment of the state of national security taking into account its environmental component. The real state of ecological problems in Ukraine confirms the existence of prerequisites for environmental danger, which can be traced according to the international rating of environmental achievements. The analysis of the global competitiveness index showed that Ukraine lost most of its positions in terms of the indicators of the labour market, infrastructure and health care, and primary education. It should also be noted that, according to some indicators, our country is almost “the first from the end”: the macroeconomic environment – the 121 place out of 137; development of financial market – 120; institutions – 118; the efficiency of the goods market – 101.
