Introduction to Metallic Biomaterials
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii "Dunarea de Jos" din Galati. Fascicula IX, Metalurgie si Stiinta Materialelor - Year 2017, Vol 40, Issue 3
Abstract
The paper presents a bibliographic study about the metallic biomaterials, synthesizing the aspects related to properties, applicability, obtaining methods. Biomaterials can be used as medical devices, implants and prostheses. The metallic biomaterials are classified, by chemical composition and structure, in: pure technical metals, metallic alloys and composites with metallic matrix. The material quality of an implant must respect the following criteria: biochemical criteria and biomechanical ones. According to the biochemical criterion, the applicability of a material is determined by its biocompatibility, and from the biochemical criteria, it is determined by the fatigue resistance, the most important parameter, but not the only one.

Influence of Substrate Temperature on Structural and Morphological Properties of SnO2 Nanostructured Thin Films
SnO2 nanostructures thin films with thickness of 500 nm were prepared by electron beam-physical vapor deposition on glass substrate at temperature of 300, 373, 443, and 583 K. Structural and morphological properties of t...
Use of Ecological Paradigm in Material Degradation Engineering
The necessity to move from the conventional technical-technological paradigms to the ecological paradigm is perfectly justified. The degradation of materials is defined as a negative phenomenon, whose study should be ext...
Characterisation of CVD Niobium Carbide Coatings on Hard Carbide Substrate
Hard coatings are often used for mechanical properties such as wear and friction resistance. The corrosion behaviour may also be an important criterion for industrial applications of these coatings. In this paper, the pr...
Detailed Microcontroller Architecture Based on a Hardware Scheduler Engine and Independent Pipeline Registers
In the world of real time operating systems, task switching, communication between threads and synchronization are implemented in software. Some of the mechanisms used may introduce big latencies in task recurrence, task...
Mathematical Modeling of Thermomechanical Treatment Process Applied to Aluminum Base Alloys for Aeronautics
To optimize the thermo-mechanical processing of aluminum base alloys, mathematical modeling was used in a laborious research program by planned experiment of thermomechanical treatment process applied to an Al-Zn system...
