INVESTIGATING THE PECULIARITIES OF ECONOMIC COMPETITION ON THE WORLD MARKETS OF WEAPONS: THE WORLD AND UKRAINE

Abstract

Production of weapons for any country at the beginning of the twenty-first century is not only economically expedient and provides national security, but also stimulates scientific and technological progress. However, the sale of weapons in the international market has its own characteristics: legal and political constraints. Mechanisms and means of economic competition on the world markets of weapons have a global impact on the social and economic, military and political, scientific and technical, and investment-innovation components of international geopolitics. At the beginning of the new millennium, countries are resorting to the use of indirect geo-economic methods of influence on the markets of weapons in order to build a comfortable geopolitical environment for themselves. For Ukraine, the study of modern economic methods of influencing the international weapon market in the conditions of permanent changes in the national and international military-political situation is urgent in order to achieve the maximum economic and security effect for the country. After the conducted research we obtained the following results: the global arms market operates within the framework of a generally accepted international legal field under the control of the United Nations; the Ukrainian defense industrial complex is actively developing and the country is among the largest exporters of arms, the ninth in the world; marketing improvement, international cooperation, implementation of scientific and technological achievements and effective state support will ensure the qualitative and quantitative growth of Ukrainian arms exports and will allow the country's export potential to be realized as much as possible. The article proposes to consider the main factors influencing the production, export and import of weapons on the world market, to determine the state of development of the defense industry of Ukraine, to propose ways to increase the efficiency of the export component of the military and industrial complex of Ukraine.
