Investigation and Analysis of Heat Losses Due to Excess Air in Fluidized Bed Fuel Combustion of Boiler
Journal Title: International Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology (IJRASET) - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
The major part of the coal available in India is of low eminence, high ash content and low calorific value. The conventional grate fuel firing systems have got limitations and are not unviable to meet the challenges of future. Fluidized bed combustion as a viable alternative and has important advantages over conventional firing system and offers multiple benefits – compact boiler design, fuel flexibility, higher burning efficiency and reduced production of toxic pollutants such as SOx and NOx. The fuels burnt in these boilers include coal, watery rejects, rice husk, & other agricultural wastes. To enhance the boiler efficiency, excess air was supplied to avoid the unburned fuel. A study was conducted by varying the percentage of excess air from 10% to 31% with the interval of 3% and the various losses associated with boiler are calculated. The optimum quantity of excess air quantity is found
