Investigation of Factors Affecting Covid-19 Vaccine Attitude in Unıversity Students

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, which has materially and morally affected the whole world, is undoubtedly a global disaster. In order to cope with this disease and to prevent loss of life, it is necessary to provide community immunity. Vaccines, which are a medical measure at the point of preventing epidemics, have effects both at the level of the individual and the society, unlike drugs. In this direction, it is thought that the COVID-19 epidemic, which has taken the world under its influence, can only be brought under control with a correct vaccination program. The main purpose of this study is to examine the issues of fear of coronavirus and multidimensional trust in the health care system, which are thought to affect the attitude and attitude developed by university students towards the Covid-19 vaccine. Because the success of vaccination programs depends on the thoughts and attitudes of individuals towards vaccination. The study was carried out with the participation of students continuing their education at state universities in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, 360 students were reached and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 25 and SPSS Amos package program. As a result of the study, it was seen that the coronavirus fear/anxiety levels of university students were low. It has been determined that students have a moderate level of trust in health services. Considering the attitudes towards the Covid-19 vaccine in the study; It was observed that the participants developed a positive attitude towards the vaccine and had an awareness about the vaccine. It has been determined that the general scores of the scale of attitudes towards the Covid-19 vaccine do not show a significant difference according to the gender variable, but show significant differences according to the Covid-19 status, education level and media follow-up status.
