Investigation Of First And Emergency Aid Students' Status Of Coping With Distress According To Physical Activity Levels

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the situations where students of the paramedic department could resist distress according to their physical activity levels. The study applied to the students studying in Artvin Coruh University First and Emergency Aid Program; consists of 3 parts: The personal information form, the international physical activity questionnaire and the scale of endurance. There are total of 26 questions, including 15 questions on the dıstress tolerance scale, 7 questions on the international physical activity survey and 4 questions on demographic information. The research is a cross-sectional research. The study was completed with data from 108 students. The data obtained were analyzed in SPSS-22 package program. According to the data obtained as a result of the study, 17 (15.7%) of the participants are inactive, 61 (56.5%) are minimum active and 30 (27.8%) are very active. Physical activity levels vary significantly according to the gender variable. Physical activity score was found as 2.3208 in men and 1.9273 in women. According to physical activity levels, there is no significant difference between stress tolerance scores. There was a significant difference in the physical activity levels of the participants according to the family income level. While the physical activity level is 1.8621 in those with a family income level below the minimum wage, the physical activity level in those with a family income level above the minimum wage is 2.2152. There should be more tendency on the lessons on physical mobility and physical education in the paramedic sections, both in terms of the inherent facts of the paramedic profession and the ability to create sustainable habits at an early age. In addition, more detailed research should be done to explain the insufficient physical activity situation that occurs despite these courses.
