INVESTIGATIONS OF PROCESSES OCCURRING IN A CLUTCH USED IN A POWER SHIFT DURING FRICTIONAL ENGAGEMENT OF GEARS

Abstract

Elements of clutch power shift gears and clutches, in particular, clutch discs should be characterized by high resistance to wear and a high friction coefficient. The reliability and durability of clutch sets depend on these important characteristics and influence the complete power shift gearbox used as a drive system for working machines. The paper presents tribological analysis of clutch discs used in the design of power shift gearboxes. In each case, gear ratio changes cause frictional coupling and uncoupling between the discs, defined as a transient phase, which is simultaneously the most difficult stage of work for the entire drive system for a working machine.
