Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 9
Abstract
The SWOT analysis has been a useful tool for sport organizations. The purpose of this paper is to identify SWOT for Iran wrestling strategy planning. In this survey study a self-made questionnaire was designed that consisted of eight components and 63 items. The sample was 217 coaches and active referees, elite athletes and executive staff in national championships (Sari Iran, October 2010). They were weak in most of factors including health, education, management, talent, financial and facilities. Examining items showed that national wrestling championships faced with 2 strengths, 11 weaknesses, 3 opportunities and 4 threads, which 12 strategies were codified based on SWOT analysis. It seems that weaknesses and threads facing wrestling are so much more than strengths and opportunities, although it is a social and moral sport to the nation and government. Thus, wrestling national championship's future encounters weaknesses and threads, and this is worried about.
