Abstract
The Istanbul Convention, which consists of 81 articles and an additional article in the form of privileges and immunities, is the form of a contract by expanding and updating there commendation of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe dated 30.04.2002. As a matter of fact, this Convention, which is called the "Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence", is briefly referred to as the Istanbul Convention since it was opened for signature by countries in Istanbul. The contract was opened for signature on 11.05.2011 and entered into force as a result of theratification of 10 countries on 01.08.2014. Turkey was the first state to sign the Convention on 11.05.2011 and the first state to sign the Istanbul Convention, which was approved by the parliament on 24.11.2011 with Law No. 6251.
