IVAN FRANCO IN RELATIONS WITH SICH MOVEMENT OF GALICIA AND BUKOVYNA IN THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY

Abstract
The beginning of the twentieth century – a time of mass national awakening of Galician and Bukovynian Ukrainians and their competitions for freedom and their statehood. In this period May 5, 1900, in the village. Zavallya (Galicia) the first fire and gymnastic society “Sich” arose, which marked the beginning of the mass movement of national-patriotic forces for the revival of Ukrainian statehood. “Sich” was founded as democratic organization, like the Zaporozhian Sich. Gradually, the best forces of the Ukrainian intelligentsia joined the “Sich”, including Ivan Franko. The writer watched, and often took part in some of the public events which held by the sith societies. One of the main and mandatory items of Sich’s attributes was the flag, where, along with the image of B. Khmelnitsky, P. Doroshenko, T. Shevchenko, M. Drahomanov, was a portrait of I. Franko was encountered. In 1908, K. Trilovsky introduced a new award – a medal with the image of T. Shevchenko and I. Franko. In the period from 1901 to 1914, when the writer spent the summer months in the village Kryvorivnya in Hutsulshchyna, he always took part in the activities of local Sich communities. On his initiative, were founded.the reading-room and the “Sich” Society in the hutsul village Holovy. The writer did not pass the Sichovs of the Bukovyna region. In particular, on January 11, 1911 I. Franko during with his visit to O. Kobylanska and S. Smal-Stotsky also repeatedly spoke to the Bukovinian Sichovians, who were reading his works. I. Franko was a respected Sich poet. His poetry, “It’s not time, no time!”, “Develop, you high oak” and “Hymn of the radical peasants” have become an integral part of the cultural events that have been constantly held by the Sich community.
