Journey and Progression in the View of Aziz Nasafi

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 3

Abstract

Due to fundamental transformations of Islamic mysticism in seventh century (A.H) and formation of second mystical tradition, the foundations, method, aim and issues of mysticism changed deeply, too. Among important issues of mysticism which changed in such tradition are the issues related to theoretical and practical faculties. These two faculties and their interaction with each other constitute the most important element of Wayfarer’s Journey to Perfection. Accordingly, all stages the Wayfarer passes during Progression are for strengthening these two faculties and their interaction. The models of Journey and Progression proposed in first and second mystical traditions are various and sometimes incongruent and there are many opposite ideas in them. But, regarding the two faculties and their interaction, such differences in the two traditions can be explained. Studying and analyzing the ideas of Aziz Nasafi about Journey and Progression, this study identifies his views about theoretical and practical faculties.
