Jucaral – Yumaisí: ¿From forest to dessert?
Journal Title: Monteverdia - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
A historical abstract of the origin and development of a group of rural communities in Camagüey. The origins of the settlement date as back as the beginning of the colonial period and its evolution shows a clear example of agricultural overexploitation which has provoked a total damage to the ecosystem, so that today it is an object of a huge project of rehabilitation. It is considered a model project aimed at achieving environmental recovery, as well as a sustainable economy of an extraordinary educative value.
